Green Shoots Recruitment is assisting a successful organisation recruit for a Business Development Manager with expertise and market knowledge in fire protection, relating to commercial construction, transportation or industrial markets.   With a minimum of 5-7 years of sales or market development experience in a related industry.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Business Development Manager, Fire Protection, is responsible for all aspects of identifying new opportunities and qualifying the fit for the company in worldwide passive fire protection markets. This includes identifying the market need for new products and determining development requirements to capture these new opportunities. Identifying and determining code/regulatory requirements, opportunity size, competitive products/companies and the company’s ability to successfully compete in specific fire protection opportunities in the commercial construction, transportation, and industrial market segments.

 

Evaluating new fire protection market and business opportunities for the company and conducting market research to make recommendation(s) regarding the company’s ability to successfully pursue a specific market segment.  This recommendation should include (but not be limited to) defining product R & D requirements, providing a potential acquisition candidate, or a joint development partner.  In a detailed action/capture plan including actions and resources required to capture new opportunities in the passive fire protection market.

 

The role includes management, support, development & delegation and interacts with Application Engineers, Sales Engineers, Market and Product Managers, Customers, Finance, Accounting, R&D, and our worldwide manufacturing facilities.  Also the post holder will be required to interact with all members of the worldwide Fire Protection Strategy Team and possibly outside consultants.

 

Management of full technical support, to internal and external customers, in the Europe and Africa areas.  

 

Typically including the management of:

 

             Material specification

             Thermal modelling / performance calculations

             Material quantity calculations

             Provision of design drawings where appropriate

             Provision of costs for non-standard products to be supplied to internal customers.

             Provide reasons for material selection to allow internal customers to prepare a commercial proposal.

             Preparation of installation instructions.

             Take part in on-site supervision of installations where necessary

 

The successful applicant will present the products and properties to the customer and assistance with technical and application problems, also on site.  Also be responsible for the participation in technical and engineering meetings, including involvement in the local health and safety organisations where appropriate.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills.

 

             Expertise and market knowledge in fire protection relating to commercial construction, transportation or industrial markets.

             Ability to conduct market research in fire protection market and provide recommendations based on that research.

             Possesses sales, technical, and business skills to understand the requirements of the market and possesses financial skills to analyse market opportunities.

             Strong leadership skills with ability to translate business objectives into action.

             Ability to create a vision and drive transition and change.

             Ability to work with people in multiple diverse cultures and to develop collaborative relationships to drive desired results.

             BA/BS degree required, MBA strongly preferred.

             Minimum of 5-7 years of sales or market development experience in a related industry.

             International Travel required.

             Proficient in Adaptive Coaching skills of listening, asking, and responding.
