Overview

We are looking for a Furniture Designer (Draftsman) with extensive SolidWorks experience and excellent attention to detail to take care of day to day design work and drive some of our internal development projects.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • 3D CAD modelling in SolidWorks of upholstered furniture frames & cabinetry and preparing technical drawings

  • Responding to a brief from the sales team and design director

  • Resolving technical detail, produce clear working drawings and specifications in accordance with company standards for client presentation, manufacture and site installation.

  • Build & maintain knowledge of relevant product areas and new technology by sharing expertise and driving professional development.

  • Achieving a high standard for quality, creativity and engagement.

  • Developing and implementing systems and procedures to improve the efficiency of the design team.

  • Liaising with the production and sales departments to maintain and improve quality control measures within the design team.

  • Managing the CAD database and ensuring all files are up-to-date, clear, consistent, accessible and in accordance with the company’s standards.

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Must have worked in a furniture design or manufacturing environment

  • Must have minimum 3-5 years professional experience

  • Must demonstrate familiarity with the complete design process including scale, proportion, and ergonomics

  • Must be proficient in SolidWorks
