Overview

DIAS a brand new digital agency. We make things worth making – be that digital, physical or conceptual – but all ideas that help deliver impact for good in some way.

We follow the simple principles of design: design for the end user, with rapid prototyping being a key requisite to finding the right solutions.

We are a small core team with a background in creating Webby Award winning projects such as openIDEO.com and many other projects for social good and impact.

We are looking for a junior digital designer to mainly work on our digital projects. You will have a basic understanding and appreciation of UX, interaction design, typography, adaptive/responsive layout design and visual design to a high standard, you will also know your way around a grid system and colour palette. Graphic design and motion graphics skills would be a major plus but not an absolute requirement.

As a recent graduate or someone with up to two years agency experience, you will be hungry to learn and progress in all aspects of digital design and have a natural love for all things digital and beautiful.

This is a great opportunity for an undiscovered talent to join a new emerging agency making things that matter, working with an international array of clients who make change happen on a global scale.

Tasks:

Working within our creative dev & design team, you’ll be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and will be involved at all stages of the design process:

  • Conceptual design – the ability and willingness to think creatively, brainstorm ideas, identify problems and explore solutions in response client and internal briefs. Feeling comfortable questioning clients and potential users to help gain user empathy and better understand the opportunities.

  • UX design – to be able to visualise the project all the way through from sketches to prototypes to final product.

  • Paper prototyping – a willingness to do rapid prototyping to help learn from the failures and successes of concepts before turning them into final products. This means you will need to spend some of your time with paper, pens, sticky tape and post it notes.

  • Interaction design – the ability to empathise with the end user to create usable yet beautiful interfaces.

  • Understanding of responsive design and mobile UX and interaction.

  • Basic web coding – working knowledge of html/css (enough to be able to tweak designs in-browser)

  • If you have any animation skills, this would be a big plus (After Effects, Flash, HTML 5, etc…)

  • An interest in the connections between people, objects and networks.

  • An interest in visual storytelling

  • A desire to use your special powers for good.

  • An inherent need to make things

If you feel you have the untapped skills to work with us, please send us a CV, a link to your work or a pdf, we like to see ideas and thoughts, through to the final clickable project.

We will only look at candidates who can answer the following question in no more than three paragraphs;

‘If there is one problem you would fix by rethinking and redesigning, what would that problem be and how would you go about redesigning it to benefit yourself and others?’

Tip, this could be digital, physical or completely unimaginable, there are no correct answers.
